Winter Championships

Summer Championships

The UK is divided into Areas with each area running a qualifying competition for each national championship. Breakspear Riding Club belongs to Area 6.

Area 6 Qualifier schedules are emailed to Breakspear Riding Club members when published. All admin and entries are organised by Sarah Hetherington on behalf of members.

In addition to entry fees payable to the host club, preliminary entry fees are also payable to British Riding Clubs for these events. Preliminary entries must be paid at least 21 days prior to the event and once these have been made, the host club entries must also be paid regardless of any change in circumstance leading to the competitor being unable to attend.

Please note that Breakspear Riding Club pays preliminary entry fees on behalf of members but riders are to pay their host club entry fees.

Why not enter either as an individual or join up with fellow Breakspear Riding Club members to enjoy the fun and support of competing on a team? Teams are usually made up of 4 riders with 3 scores to count. Full eligibility details can be found on the British Riding Clubs website or please contact Sarah Hetherington for help.

Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations in line with rule G7 (page 22) in the current BRC Handbook. There is also a checking device on the BRC website. As of 1 October 2020, it is compulsory for all horses to be microchipped. There will be passport spot checks on flu vaccinations/microchips at Area 6 qualifiers and full checks at championships.

The running of these qualifiers relies on helpers. Therefore clubs must provide a helper for half a day for every team or 3 individuals entered. Helpers must travel separately from competitors to ensure there are no welfare concerns regarding horses standing on lorries/trailers for too long. Our Area 6 competitors will be asked to take a turn in helping so please be willing to volunteer, perhaps at a discipline you don't compete in to avoid missing out on competing at your qualifiers of choice!
