Report : The Care and Management of the Competition Horse

Fifty members and friends gathered at Chiltern Equine on Thursday 17 October for this most informative talk.

Sarah Randell, the owner of Chiltern Equine and Jonathan Chapman our local event rider presented a wonderful evening.  Topics covered were conformation, movement, selection, training etc and the common (and less common!) injuries that horses sustain in the various disciplines. Most interesting was how defects in any aspect can indeed affect the long term soundness and thus the ability of the horses to carry out the jobs we demand of them.

Every topic was accompanied by slides, a competitors viewpoint and the veterinary opinion and many interesting questions were put to Sarah and Jonathan.

Chiltern Equine had even provided the most magnificent buffet supper which we all enjoyed both before the event and topped up during the interval!

The evening closed with the presentation of the Dressage Awards for the Summer Series - Old Berkeley Hunt Riding Club won the Inter Club Team Challenge and the results of the points were :

1st Charlotte Rollinson

2nd Helen Browne

=3rd Chris Parrott and Antonia Thoday

All of these were awarded generous gifts kindly sponsored by Chiltern Equine Clinic.

We cannot thank Chiltern Equine Clinic enough for their sponsorship and the wonderful evening talk and supper.THANK YOU CEC!
